Almost exactly one year ago Oakley released its first version of the Oakley Thump – the ingenious design of an mp3 player built into a pair of its first-rate sunglasses. Now, almost exactly a year after the Thump 1.0's release – Oakley is about to release its new and improved counterpart – the Oakley Thump 2.0.

Until now – Oakley has kept almost everything surrounding this new and improved version of the Thump shrouded in a cloak of secrecy. In fact, just getting a sneak peak of an image of the Thump 2.0 required considerable effort as Oakley forbade retailers to display any images of their new invention – at least until now.

New Streamline Design

While the design of the original Thump was brilliant – the new design of the Thump 2.0 has been streamlined considerably. Tossing the design of the popular sports-specific Half Jacket, the Oakley Thump 2.0 is based on the fashionably hip Oakley Gascan. With a frame that is naturally larger than the Half Jacket – the Oakley Gascan fit the electronics perfectly. Bulges of where electronics are stored have been left with the Original, leaving the new Oakley Thump 2.0 looking clean and stylish.

Without the additional bulges, the buttons are easier to find and push leaving you to enjoy your music rather than searching which button is Play and which button is the Next.

Updated Earbuds

While the earbuds in the Thump 1.0 were good – the new Oakley Thump 2.0's earbuds are great. The design has been seriously improved; the buds now to rotate up to 270-degrees around the center point on the hinge and use two pivot balls to flex so they finally sit exactly where you'd like them to sit.

Oakley has also added rubber edges to the outside of the earbuds for enhanced comfort as they rest securely in your ear. Regardless of what activity you're doing – these earbuds are going to stay put until you take them out.

Like the Original Thump, the sound quality of the Oakley's Thump 2.0 is perfectly clear. No matter if you're flying along the road on your bike or you're running you'll be able to hear your music clearly and crisply.
